DOG CONTROL
Appointed yearly by the Town Board, the Dog Control Officer is a very part time position in Wilmington that is regulated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Even though this position is commonly known as the “Dog Catcher” this person is responsible for much more than catching dogs. Our officer ensures all dogs are licensed within our community.
Many times when a dog is lost or found, it is our Dog Control officer that helps reunite the pet and their owner.
Wilmington even has a leash law, so please leash your four-legged friends!
