SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 1/5/2024

Greetings! This is my first report to you as Town Supervisor. It has been a good first week and I thank everyone for the kind welcome I received.

Well, to business.

January’s Calendar

The first town board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th at 7 p.m. There will be a public hearing on the additional Veteran’s exemption proposal made in December. Then there will be the organizational meeting, followed by the regular meeting for town business.

A special meeting will be scheduled for January 18th at 7 p.m. to review and discuss the proposed Short Term Rental changes and ordinance and a work session is scheduled for Wednesday, January 30th at 4:00 p.m.

Vacancies

There are three vacancies on the planning board and one on the board of assessment review. A zoning board of appeals is being looked into and that may require 7 volunteers. Those interested in serving on these important boards should email me of their interest

(townsupervisor@townofwilmington.org). An idea of interest will help the town decide on the next steps.

Covid Tests

The Town had 1 box of Covid tests. Unfortunately it has nearly run out and I will search for some more boxes on Monday when I am in Elizabethtown. These tests seem to be in shorter supply than before. Ice Rink

The ice rink has been set up and, with the colder temperatures, the ice is starting to firm up. Sorry we can’t announce it as officially open today because the weather may not cooperate-snow this weekend and warm temperature and rain forecast for next week.

That’s all for this first week. Thanks again, Favor Smith
