SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 5/12/2023

Hello Everyone. I am excited to share with you some news of a few upgrades in our town park. First, new safety rubber has been added to the base of all playground equipment in the park. The material used is common in recreation areas and is much safer than traditional sand. The base was also recommended by our insurance carrier

The second improvement is some new picnic tables. The tables are steel and coated with a rubber enamel. Plans are being made to purchase fiberglass or resin umbrellas that can be added to the tables to provide a little shade to those using the new feature. Currently we are also looking at purchasing a few more pieces of playground equipment out of the Community Enhancement funds that come from Wilmington’s share of the visitor occupancy tax

Several residents have been inquiring about their property tax assessments. Please note that only those that have had changes in their assessments will receive a letter from the Assessors. If you want to double check, one can either call or stop by to see the town clerk. The Clerk’s office has both the current assessment book and the 2024 proposed assessment book at her office

A big Thank Youis extended to the Essex County Arts Council for their contribution to our 2023 summer concert series at the beach. For years the Arts Council has supported our weekly concert series. All concerts are 100 percent funded by Local Businesses, Individuals and organizations in our

area

Our newest vehicle speeddevice has arrived. Unlike our portable Radar speed trailer, this new solar powered radar will be permanently placed on a road in our community

The Town of Wilmington has partnered with the Essex County Housing Assistance Program in applying for a grant that would allow us to build 6 long term rental units on the future land of the Homestead Housing. This would be in addition to some of the permanent homes we hope to have on this site. Stay tuned for more information
