SUPERVISORS REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING 7-26-24
WORK SESSION—WEDNESDAY, JULY 31, 2024 at 4:00 PM
The board will hold its regular work session meeting at the Community Center this Wednesday at 4:00
pm. Guests from Adirondack Roots will be there to update the board and public on the Homestead
Housing project going on at the former Coarding property on Route 86.
At the board's last meeting there were questions about the project, rentals versus option to purchase,
etc. This will give everyone a chance to learn more and ask questions.
The board will also discuss the future of the assessors’ office. After 40 years of service to the town, Fonzi
Smith is retiring effective July 31st. The Board will recognize and honor Fonzi’s service at the next
regular meeting, but the town is down to one elected assessor. NYS offers 3 options to towns and
hopefully the board can discuss which option might best work for Wilmington.
CAREGIVER’S SUPPORT GROUP
I have uploaded a flyer from the Clinton, Essex & Franklin County Caregiver Support Groups and want to
let everyone know that a group now meets once a month at the Wilmington Community Center (4th
Monday of the Month at 6:00 pm). It met for the first time this past Monday.
Many of us have family members who need help and care because of alzheimer's or other type of
dementia. Resources are limited and options few. Families now face hard questions about how much
care, who can provide it and for how long. For those of you near Wilmington who would like to meet
and share experiences about these challenges, please contact the program manager, Brooke Dubuque
at 518-915-3115 or email bmdubuque@alz.org.
